Social networking
Today, everyone is joining social sites like Facebook and Twitter. I bet you already have an account with one or more of these sites and a good number of friends too. Share your blog posts with them. A blogging platform like WordPress.com has widgets that allow you to connect and share posts with friends and fans on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn (among others). Make sure you update your profiles in these social sites regularly to keep your fans and followers engaged in your blog forums and discussions. Other social sites include:
- MySpace.com
- Ning.com
- Tagged.com
Join online blog community sites
There are a many different social bookmarking websites which you can join today. Signing up for these sites gives you a chance to find other blogs in your niche. Networking with some of your fellow bloggers will drive a few visitors your way. It is important that you use social bookmarking responsibly and avoid spamming these websites. For starters, you can try out some of these sites:
- Technorati.com
- YahooBuzz.com
- Digg.com
- Del.icio.us
- StumbleUpon.com
Guest post on other blogs
Guest posting is a very common practice in the world of blogging. This is arguably one of the best ways to get some quick traffic, as it gives you a huge opportunity to write an article that could be seen by thousands of readers. The point is to write a superior-quality article and find a blog of interest to you. Of course it also has to be relevant to the other person’s blog and unpublished (fresh) for them to approve it. Take your time and prepare your best stuff, don’t hold it back. If read in the already well-established blog, you will definitely get some people to visit your site.
Comment regularly
Another way to get some traffic to your blog is to simply comment on other people’s blogs. Read their posts and comment with relevant, thought-provoking responses. But your comments should be sincere and respectful. Don’t just write something without even reading the post.
Sign up for Directories
To find some of these directories, use some of the available search engines e.g. Google and Bing. Simply type in the name of your topic and include the word “directory” at the end (i.e. after the name of your topic). This generates a list of web directories on your topic. The advantage is that these directories will help bring you more traffic from the search engines. Some examples include:
- YahooDirectory
- DMOZ.org
- BOTW.org
- Blogged.com
- JoeAnt.com
Write and submit articles
There are websites that collect articles written by freelance online writers. These article submission sites provide a good platform for you to write attractive articles that could be read by literally thousands of readers. Also, almost all of them allow a section where you can include a link back to your blog. Here are a few examples of these sites:
- Ezinearticles.com
- Articledashboard.com
- Goalarticles.com

It requires patience and dedication. Some people would feel that by providing you with this information I am giving away too much for free.
